The Ground Floor theatres department at UHCW comprises 5 theatres and 2 treatment rooms, supporting multiple specialties in performing highly specialised surgeries. Our team works closely with main theatres and Theatres at St Cross, Rugby.
Responsibilities
* Assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate the peri-operative care of patients using specialist knowledge and skills.
* Acknowledge personal preferences, rights and choice of patients undergoing surgery.
* Maintain health, safety, and the control of infection in clinical work areas in line with Trust policies and procedures.
* Store, prepare and administer prescribed drugs to patients, and monitor the effects of drugs on patients in line with Trust policies.
* Prepare, monitor, and maintain materials and equipment for clinical procedures, take action if found to be faulty.
* Support, monitor and care for patients during clinical procedures.
* Contribute to treating patients during clinical emergencies.
* Receive, transfer and position patients for clinical procedures.
* Continually develop own knowledge by evaluating and reflecting on practice.
* Maintain a professional profile.
* Create a learning environment in theatre.
* Act as an assessor/mentor/preceptor to members of staff.
* Teach others within the theatre area.
* Develop and evaluate learning materials.
* Ensure effective supervision and assessment of students within theatre.
Qualifications
We are looking for a Senior operating department practitioner with extensive experience as an anaesthetic practitioner and demonstrated leadership skills and qualities. Applicants should be able to lead a team in theatre and, at times, within the department.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
