Job Description – Client Manager / Senior Manager


Location: Preston

Hybrid: 1–2 days per week working from home


Overview

A well-established accountancy firm in Preston is seeking an ACA/ACCA-qualified Client Manager to oversee a portfolio of SME and OMB clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking for a clear progression route to Director level with equity participation.

The role combines hands-on accounts preparation, client management, and team leadership within a supportive and growing firm.


Key Responsibilities

* Manage a diverse portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients.
* Oversee and review all accounts preparation work, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
* Act as the primary point of contact for client queries, providing a high level of service and technical support.
* Lead, mentor and develop a team of four staff, ensuring high-quality output and effective workflow management.
* Plan, allocate and review work across the team to meet deadlines and client expectations.
* Identify opportunities to enhance client service, operational efficiency, and internal processes.
* Support the senior leadership team with practice development initiatives where required.
* Maintain strong technical knowledge and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

Hybrid Working

* Flexible working arrangement with 1–2 days per week from home.


Bonus & Incentives

* 10% bonus on all new revenue generated (business development experience is welcome but not essential).
* Performance bonus of 10% of base salary when annual targets are achieved.


About You

* ACA or ACCA qualified (essential).
* Experience managing a portfolio of SME/OMB clients.
* Strong background in accounts preparation and reviewing work produced by others.
* Confident managing and developing a small team.
* Strong communication and client-handling skills.
* Organised, proactive and comfortable working to deadlines.
* Business development experience is beneficial but not required.
