Footwear Testing Technician (PPE)
Kettering, Northamptonshire
Salary: Up to £25,000
37.5 hours per week | Full-time
Interaction Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a respected and well-established testing organisation for a Footwear Technician to join their Footwear Testing Laboratory based in Kettering.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail, a practical mindset, and an interest in footwear, materials, or laboratory-based testing. Full training will be provided, making this role ideal for candidates looking to build a long-term technical career.
The Role
Working within a physical testing laboratory, you will be responsible for carrying out routine testing on footwear, footwear materials, and components, ensuring all work is completed accurately, safely, and in line with recognised standards.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Operating standard laboratory equipment in accordance with Health & Safety procedures and test methods
2. Conducting physical testing of footwear, materials and components
3. Supporting laboratory and stores maintenance and general upkeep
4. Ensuring compliance with UKAS requirements, including maintaining personal training records
5. Contributing to continuous improvement within the laboratory
6. Working to deadlines while producing accurate, detailed test results
You will work both independently and as part of a collaborative laboratory team.
About You
You’ll be organised, reliable, and comfortable working in a structured, technical environment.
Essential requirements:
7. GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science (NVQ Level 3)
8. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
9. Strong organisational and time management skills
10. Excellent attention to detail
11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
12. A flexible, positive and proactive ‘can-do’ attitude
Desirable experience:
13. Previous experience in a physical testing or laboratory environment
14. Knowledge of footwear construction and materials
(No prior footwear testing experience is required – full training will be provided.)
