Factory/Production Manager Bellshill £65k Circa Dependant on Experience 1. JOB DESCRIPTION PURPOSE Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for helping to achieve the companys sales turnover, on time delivery and profit targets by; 1. Ensuring that jobs are manufactured correctly cost effectively and delivered on time in accordance to customer build specification and quality requirements. Managing, directing and monitoring the overall performance of the factory. Communicating with all the relevant people / departments and co-ordinating all relevant inputs (people, plant and processes) to ensure production output and on time delivery targets are achieved. Planning, scheduling and reviewing workload to ensure production output and on time delivery targets are achieved cost effectively. Ensuring that the shop floor has the necessary manpower, competence, skill, knowledge, plant and tooling required in order to achieve production targets. 2. Managing and resolving daily operations and activities in a way that the productivity of the employees raises. 3. Managing the Inventory function /stock control department to ensure raw material and product is receipted, 1 located, stored and transferred correctly and that the companys stock inventory is accurate. As part of the senior management team, you will also be jointly responsible for contributing towards the achievement of the companys strategic and operational targets and overall business aims. The job role may include other reasonable duties/tasks from time to time. The role carries direct managerial responsibility for the production, programming, purchasing & stock control personnel. 2. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND KPI'S EXPECTATIONS WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT Oversee all aspects of the manufacturing process, including managing customer order / schedule requirements, production planning, scheduling, and quality control Pre-plan production and deploy a daily prioritised work schedule to the shop floor with appropriate time deadline targets Set, monitor & review workload schedule and production progress to ensure on time delivery by regularly walking the factory floor and implementing a hands-on approach to provide suitable cover for production roles when needed Monitor production metrics and make adjustments as needed to improve efficiency and reduce waste Ensure production/quality processes, equipment being used, and the working environments are all conducive to producing a high-quality product / service Monitor the quality of all incoming raw materials and finished product, and production activity to ensure that the appropriate manufacturing methods are employed, and that sufficient due care is taken in order to meet the customers build and quality specifications Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve production processes and reduce costs Ensure rejected product / non-conformance is rectified as high priority and that customers are kept informed accordingly. Ensure the correct non-conformance paperwork is raised and processed with every reject Ensure that finished product is well packaged, labelled and delivered according to the agreed delivery date Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles and other methodologies to drive operational excellence Collaborate with sales, procurement, accounts, HR and other departments to ensure that production meets customer demand QUALITY ASSURANCE Maintain rigorous quality control protocols to ensure all products meet or exceed industry standards Work closely with the quality assurance team to address any issues and implement corrective actions TEAM LEADERSHIP Lead, train, and develop a team of production staff, supervisors, and support personnel Foster a positive and collaborative work environment Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations Implement and enforce strict hygiene and sanitation protocols Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory requirements 2 Ensure all plant and equipment is maintained & repaired RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Planning workforce demand across all departments and taking responsibility for the control of personnel and personnel cost Organise, plan and co-ordinate all inventory management activities; Ensure that both goods inward and distribution departments are well organised and adequately resourced to sufficiently support production and the goals of the business Ensure incoming product is processed and managed appropriately according to company procedures Ensure that raw materials and finished products are stored and handled properly Ensure materials are ready and available for production as and when required Ensure that any materials that are late or holding up production for whatever reason are chased and followed up until received Ensure that finished product is well packaged, labelled and delivered according to the agreed delivery date Ensure that all manufacturing and inventory systems / processes run efficiently and effectively Oversee the inventory function / stock control to ensure the companys stock inventory is accurate Optimise the use of equipment and resources to maximise production output COST MANAGEMENT Monitor and control production costs Identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements. REPORTING Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, quality metrics, and operational issues to senior management. 3. AS A FACTORY/PRODUCTION MANAGER YOU WILL ALSO BE EXPECTED TO ? Promoting and upholding company performance standards and ideology (on time delivery, quality, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, housekeeping & work ethic). ? Update job knowledge by studying trends and developments in production and quality management; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organisations and keep abreast of changes in technology, legislation and customer requirements to ensure that the company is always fully conversant with the latest information. ? Enhance department and organisation reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. ? Develop and foster a strong working, no-nonsense relationship with plant management and production employees. ? Identify and develop internal candidates within production department for advancement or promotion into evermore challenging roles within the company through training, provision of practical, tailored work, shared experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. ? Maintain a flexible approach to the Factory/Production Manager role and provide suitable cover as and when required for other remits.
