Position Overview:
Ameresco Energy Supply Management (ESM) is an award-winning energy management consultancy business, providing strategic advice, risk management, energy analytics and energy optimisation services to clients throughout the UK. We are going through an exciting period of planned growth and are looking to recruit for a Systems Development Analyst based out of our office in Leeds, Yorkshire on a hybrid basis.
The ESM function is a leading utility consultancy with an enviable track record and reputation for innovation and exceptional client service. We have a unique combination of energy industry, trading, and financial expertise that ensures we bring a multi-disciplined approach to the optimal procurement, planning and ongoing management of energy costs, usage, and associated carbon emissions.
Ameresco ESM have placed over 2,000 energy contracts worth in excess of £1 billion with 35+ suppliers on behalf of nearly 200 clients. We focus on a small number of high-value industrial and commercial clients with a considerable energy spend.
Team Structure - Energy Supply Management
There are three main teams within ESM – Client Services, Pricing/Risk Management and Consultancy. The breadth of activities that Ameresco ESM undertakes within the energy space is considerable, and this role is likely to gain the successful candidate significant exposure to these activities across all three teams.
Role Scope and Duties –Systems Development Analyst
Ameresco is looking for a Systems Development Analyst with a keen interest in programming and experience of full stack development.
This is a pivotal role within the ESM function, acting as the unit’s dedicated full‑time developer and reporting directly to a Senior Analyst.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop and upgrade internal and client facing tools and applications
2. Ongoing maintenance of existing tools and functionality; testing and debugging of solutions
3. Supporting colleagues with complex requests and project work
4. Provide practical solutions to ad hoc operational queries
5. Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
6. A degree from an accredited Computer Science or Information Technology programme or equivalent professional experience
7. Experience in software development
Skill, Experience and Capabilities:
8. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
9. Experience in analysis, design, and implementation of software systems
10. Proficiency in full stack development using C#, .NET, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL
11. Ability to write clean, maintainable code
12. Ability to design and develop clean, user-friendly web interfaces
13. Ability to work independently to achieve defined goals
14. Effective time management and the ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously
15. Energy industry experience would be welcome but not essential
