Overview
Kingdown School is looking for a confident and motivated Attendance Officer to provide a comprehensive service in monitoring and managing our school’s student attendance. This role is part of the Pastoral team dedicated to safeguarding and welfare for all pupils and aims to support students in achieving their ambitions.
Responsibilities
* Record and monitor student attendance using the school’s MIS system.
* Keep accurate records and produce attendance reports.
* Communicate with students, parents, staff and external agencies regarding absences and attendance concerns.
* Conduct attendance monitoring meetings.
* Coordinate student admissions and ensure confidentiality at all times.
* Work closely with the pastoral and business teams.
* Handle new challenging situations and maintain a proactive approach.
Working Hours: Part‑time (37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year, including Teacher Training Days). Salary: £14.59 – £15.31 per hour (£28,153 – £29,541 pro‑rata per annum).

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with pupils, staff, parents and external agencies.
* Superb attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Self‑motivated, consistent and able to maintain confidentiality.
* Ability to deal with new challenging situations.
* Strong team player capable of working effectively with a hardworking team on whole‑school issues.
* Committed to improving the life chances of all young people.
* Good working knowledge of ICT systems (including Microsoft); willingness to learn to use the school’s MIS.
* Minimum standard of GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade 4 in English and Maths.
* Well presented with a professional approach.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Previous experience working with young people and/or in a similar role.
