Fairview Health Ltd is seeking a dedicated and detail oriented Accuracy Checking Technician ACT to join our expanding pharmacy team in Gloucester. Our dispensary supports multiple NHS Trusts across the South West, supplying medicines for inpatient units, clinics, and specialist services.

As an ACT, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and accurate supply of medicines by carrying out final accuracy checks, supporting dispensary workflow, and maintaining high standards of compliance and patient safety. You will work closely with pharmacists, Accuracy Checking Dispensers, and wider operational teams to deliver a reliable, efficient service that supports vulnerable patient groups across NHS settings.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will carry out final accuracy checks on dispensed medicines to ensure safe and compliant supply to NHS Trusts. You will support the smooth running of the dispensary by helping manage workflow, resolving discrepancies, and working closely with pharmacists, Accuracy Checking Dispensers and wider operational teams.

You will contribute to maintaining stock levels, supporting timely order preparation, and ensuring all documentation meets regulatory standards. The role also involves promoting good practice, supporting colleagues with training, and upholding high standards of safety, accuracy and professionalism across the service.

* Salary: £32,000 to £34,000 per annum

Role Overview

As an Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT), you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and accurate supply of medicines across all NHS hospital contracts supported from our Gloucester dispensary.

You will be responsible for conducting final accuracy checks on dispensed items, supporting efficient dispensary workflows, and maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and professionalism.


Key Responsibilities

* Perform final accuracy checks on dispensed medications in line with ACT accreditation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Ensure all medicines accurately match prescriptions, are correctly labelled, and meet quality and safety standards.
* Work alongside Accuracy Checking Dispensers and provide support with training and development.
* Support the preparation and timely supply of medication orders for inpatient units and Trust clinics.
* Work collaboratively with pharmacists and dispensary staff to resolve discrepancies and maintain smooth workflow.
* Maintain accurate documentation and records in line with regulatory and organisational requirements.
* Assist with stock control, ordering, and inventory management to ensure continuity of supply.
* Uphold all health and safety standards, including the safe handling and storage of medicines.


Qualifications & Experience

* Level 3 NVQ in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent).
* Previous experience working in a dispensary environment.
* Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to patient safety.
* Experience with pharmacy IT systems.
* Ability to manage workload effectively in a busy, service driven environment.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.

Experience

* Experience working in a pharmacy dispensary environment.
* Demonstrated ability to carry out final accuracy checks on dispensed medicines.
* Experience working within Standard Operating Procedures and regulatory frameworks.
* Experience maintaining accurate records and documentation.
* Experience working collaboratively with pharmacists, technicians, and dispensary teams.
* Ability to manage workload effectively in a busy, service driven environment.
* Experience using pharmacy IT systems (e.g. PMR, stock management, dispensing software).
* Experience supporting or mentoring junior staff or dispensers.
* Experience working in a high volume or centralised dispensing environment.
* Experience contributing to workflow improvements or service development.


Qualifications

* Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Services, or equivalent recognised qualification.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Experience using pharmacy IT systems (e.g. PMR, stock management systems).
* Experience supporting or mentoring junior staff or dispensers.
* Experience working in a high volume or service driven environment.
