Overview
Refrigeration Technician role at Serco.
Location: Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
Working pattern: Mon-Fri 06:00am–14:00pm with 30 minutes unpaid lunch break. Full time – 37.5 hours.
Salary: £37,177 - £44,397 dependent on experience.
Responsibilities
* Maintain the Hospital Building, Fabric, Plant, Services and Equipment to a high standard to ensure efficiency, safety and reliability, and contractually required serviceability.
* Prioritize safety and assess all aspects of tasks, taking appropriate actions.
* Know when to request advice or assistance and understand own limitations.
* Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, managers, and Trust staff; inform relevant people of works and status and any equipment/service unavailability.
* Understand the contractual relationship between Serco, Octagon and the Trust.
* Carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, servicing, commissioning and maintenance on a wide range of refrigeration plant and equipment across the hospital as directed.
* Work with chillers, air conditioning units, fridges, freezers, catering and kitchen display equipment, etc.
* Carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) on refrigeration plant and equipment.
* Understand associated controls and how the Building Management System interfaces and controls equipment and wider plant & infrastructure.
* Assist with FGAS management, maintain relevant paperwork and records, oversee stock control of spares including refrigerant, and manage temporary equipment assets.
* Support minor works and project activity related to new installations and specifications.
* Help ensure compliance with all tasks and contract service levels; assist with external contractor management as required.
* Work in accordance with Serco policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines; actively contribute to HSE improvements.
* Attend work as per attendance systems and participate in CAFM system for work orders and documentation.
* Be prepared to work beyond finishing time in exceptional circumstances to support critical equipment or patient services.
* Cover supervisory duties when requested and attend on-site and off-site training.
* Be willing to work in other areas to support the wider maintenance scope as required.
* Understand how the Refrigeration Technician role supports Serco’s Norfolk & Norwich Contract and wider company objectives.
What you will need
* Completion of a recognised Refrigeration Apprenticeship or other relevant structured training program.
* Appropriate City & Guilds and/or BTEC certification.
* Proven experience in a similar environment.
* Knowledge and understanding of Refrigeration Services.
* Good communication and customer service skills.
