Overview
Registrar in General Medicine role with Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The post is based at St Peter's Hospital and involves joining the General Internal Medicine (GIM) team as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary service delivering high-quality care to acutely unwell medical patients.
Responsibilities
* Participate in daily ward rounds and provide inpatients care in General Internal Medicine.
* Under supervision of Consultants, manage a broad range of acute medical conditions.
* Engage in the General Medicine full-shift on-call rota (evenings, nights and weekends) to support 24/7 acute medical services.
* Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, audits, and service development.
* Supervise and educate junior doctors; collaborate with nursing and allied health professionals to ensure patient-centred care.
* Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with General Practitioners and other services involved in patient care.
* Participate in departmental governance, adhere to Trust policies and national guidelines, and engage in professional development.
Qualifications & Experience
* Essential: MRCP part 1, 2 and 3
* Essential: Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
* Essential: Substantial NHS experience with broad-based General Internal Medicine and experience in acute medical take and inpatient ward-based care
* Essential: Understanding of clinical governance, audit, risk management; good clinical judgement and decision-making skills
Registration & Compliance
* UK professional registration current and active.
* Compliance with Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) requirements as applicable.
* Eligible for Skilled Worker sponsorship where applicable; refer to UK Visas and Immigration guidance.
