Job Description:
A well-established banking institution is seeking a Financial Controller to join their Wealth and Asset Management arm. Duties include maintaining internal controls over financial, tax, regulatory reporting, and producing commentary to support management and forecasting.
Main Responsibilities
* Managing day-to-day finance operations with a team of two direct reports
* Performing all related accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and company policies and procedures
* Analytical review and analysis of financial data, generating monthly trend reports, and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring financial statement accuracy and investigating variances
* Monitoring and managing financial risks in line with compliance and regulations
* Completing all HMRC filings and returns, including corporation taxes and VAT, in accordance with tax policy. Liaising with group tax team and HMRC on inquiries
* Preparing formal year-end statutory accounts and coordinating external audit activities
* Overseeing bank reconciliations and maintaining cash flow forecasts to ensure funds are available to meet obligations
* Driving team’s automation strategy, redesigning manual processes around financial operations
* Deputising for Head of Finance as appropriate
* Handling regulatory reporting, liquidity, and capital requirements calculations, analysis, and management under ICARA regime
Experience/Qualifications
Qualified accountant with strong experience as a Financial Controller
Experience in team management
Analytical mindset, excited by new challenges and creating new processes
Ability to work accurately and meet strict deadlines
Academic: ACA/ ACCA/CIMA qualified with at least 5 years post-qualified experience
