POSITION SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Regional Education Director and in alignment with the mission and policies of YMCS of Southeastern NC, the Afterschool Site Coordinator is dedicated to overseeing the afterschool program at a partner school. The site director acts as the primary face-to-face contact for school administration, faculty, parents, and guardians, and helps establish the program at the assigned school. The candidate must possess the competencies, skills, and leadership ability to successfully implement YMCS's mission, goals, and community service vision. Responsibilities include providing program direction, implementing curriculum, and ensuring a quality experience for children and parents based on YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
POSITION TYPE: This seasonal, part-time, hourly role offers $15.12 - $15.88/hour depending on experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Implement curriculum within established guidelines.
2. Design and execute daily lesson and activity plans.
3. Supervise children, classroom, and all activities.
4. Conduct ongoing observations and evaluations of each child.
5. Keep parents informed of site and program activities; communicate both positive and negative behaviors.
6. Conduct parent conferences, maintain positive relationships, and encourage parent involvement as volunteers.
7. Maintain program site and equipment.
8. Keep required records such as attendance, incident reports, behavior reports, and CACFP documentation.
9. Participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and training sessions.
10. Follow and implement Healthy Eating and Physical Activity standards.
11. Train new staff on YMCA policies and procedures.
12. Supervise afterschool counselors; adjust schedules as needed to maintain appropriate staff-to-student ratios within budget.
13. Build relationships with school and community stakeholders to strengthen YMCA-school partnerships.
Note: Site Coordinators serving 60+ students may assist with lunch and playground monitoring duties.
14. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Youth Services District Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Two or more years of college preferred, ideally in education or related fields.
2. Minimum age of 21, with relevant training for YMCA programs.
3. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required within 30 days of hire.
4. Preferred experience working with children in developmental settings.
5. Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities.
6. Experience with diverse populations and ability to build positive relationships across backgrounds.
