Position Summary
We have a great opportunity for a Housing Options Officer on a part‑time, permanent basis of 18.5 hours per week. This role allows you to make a direct impact on the lives of households facing the risk of homelessness in Bracknell Forest.
About You
We are looking for a passionate and self‑motivated person with empathy and understanding, able to build relationships with customers facing homelessness. You will bring experience in problem‑solving and working with a diverse clientele within a housing environment, excellent negotiating skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders.
Working Pattern
Part‑time, 18.5 hours per week. You will be expected to work from the Time Square office at least one day per week as follows: Monday PM (half day), Tuesday (all day), Thursday (all day), and additional days as required by service needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide help and comprehensive advice to households that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, assisting them to retain existing accommodation or secure alternative housing.
* Consider and assess homelessness applications in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 Part VII and related legislation.
* Ensure a customer‑focussed approach, completing full housing needs assessments and publishing all statutory notifications and personal housing plans.
* Partner with specialist agencies – children and adult services, probation, hospitals, and voluntary organisations – to prevent homelessness.
