SEN Teaching Assistant
* Hourly Rate: £15.84 per hour
* Location: Thornton Cleveleys
* Job Type: Full-time
* 30 hours per week
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Thornton Cleveleys. This role involves supporting a KS1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).The position is to starton the 13th October an initially finish at Christmas, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact in the early stages of children's education.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day, adapting strategies to meet the child’s individual needs.
* Implement and follow the child’s EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets.
* Support the child with communication, sensory regulation, and transitions.
* Use visual aids, structured routines, and other ASD-friendly strategies to enhance engagement.
* Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation using appropriate techniques.
* Liaise regularly with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents/carers to monitor progress and share updates.
* Assist with classroom activities and ensure inclusion in group learning where appropriate.
* Maintain accurate records of interventions and progress.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with SEN children.
* Understanding of the needs and educational strategies for KS1 pupils.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
