About the Company:
A well known fashion business in Derby is entering an exciting period of growth and expansion. To support this, they are creating a brand-new in-house HR function. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR professional to take ownership of both HR and Health & Safety within the business.
The Role:
As the HR & H&S Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for all HR matters, while also overseeing workplace H&S. You’ll work closely with managers and employees across the business, providing expert guidance, ensuring compliance, and driving best practice in both HR and H&S. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has worked in a standalone HR role, or who is ready to step up into one.
Key Responsibilities:
* Human Resources *
– Provide day-to-day HR support to managers and employees.
– Manage the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, contracts, performance reviews, training, and leavers.
– Advise on employee relations issues such as disciplinaries, grievances, and absence management in line with employment law.
– Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee records.
– Support with organisational development, engagement, and retention initiatives.
* Health & Safety *
– Take responsibility for H&S across the business, including office and warehouse environments.
– Write, review, and implement H&S policies and risk assessments.
– Conduct workplace inspections and monitor compliance.
– Deliver H&S training/inductions and promote a positive safety culture.
– Ensure incidents and accidents are reported, investigated, and actions followed up.
– Liaise with external bodies and regulators where required.
Experience & Qualifications
– Previous HR experience, ideally in a standalone position within an SME.
– CIPD Level 3 qualified (essential), Level 5 or working towards (desirable).
– Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
– Experience managing disciplinary, grievance, and performance processes.
– Experience in H&S responsibilities, ideally in a warehouse or similar environment.
– Ability to write policies, carry out risk assessments, and monitor H&S compliance.
– Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
– Full UK driving license and access to own transport (essential).
