We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Composites responsible for creating the process and the specification for structural or non-structural bonding/assembly facility for our primary body structure production. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing and suppliers, you will support production readiness, develop manufacturing guidelines and ensure robust processes are in place from development through to launch.
The Role
You will define and develop manufacturing processes, facilities and documentation required to deliver composite primary structures, supporting both current and future programmes while ensuring production targets, safety requirements and business objectives are achieved.
This is your chance to:
* Support current and new model activities.
* Liaise with other departments and suppliers to ensure process targets are met for production.
* Create production process and facility strategies, create action plans from development to launch which meets project requirements for production and business plan.
* Develop and standardise work instruction for each production process.
* Ensure H&S requirements are met.
* Carry out problem solving activities.
* Work together with GMAE / GMA production members to continuously improve / develop manufacturing process.
* Determining what technical data and information is required and support creating manufacturing guidelines for the composite parts manufacture and adhesive bonding (include structural and non-structural adhesive fixing) within the vehicle primary structures.
* Create facility implementation plans and schedule Process development activities to provide manufacturing deliverables that meet required specifications within timescales and budgets.
* Liaise with other members of the Manufacturing Engineering Team to create 2D layouts.
About You
* Extensive programme engineering/management experience in composite assembly to the vehicles in projects, including PPAP, PSW, PFMEA and Control Plans.
* Extensive knowledge of adhesive bonding techniques and processes for composite parts including industrial plastic, autoclave and press formed components to Aluminium structures.
* Experience in dimensional verification to the specification, strong skills across data analysis, tech know-how and ability to lead problem solving activities within an automotive assembly environment.
* Catia V5 (or alternative CAD system) viewer experience preferred, but not essential.
* Automotive experience at an appropriate OEM/ Tier 1 Supplier or/and Engineering Degree or equivalent professional experience.
* Experience of full product life-cycle activities and experience in process planning, schedule control, cost and project management.
* Strong understanding of the different assembly processes, tooling and equipment.
* Ability to work autonomously, managing your own workload and responsible for meeting your goals and challenges by creating plans and schedule own activities.
* Clear and effective communication skills with internal and external clients.
* Must be a team player who can work closely with GMAE Engineering and GMA production team.
* Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines related to manufacturing.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications is essential.
