Neonatal Clinical Educator

The post holder will be part of the Band 7 leadership team who will be professionally accountable for demonstrating visible accessible leadership and the Trust values. The post holder as part of the Band 7 team will lead and influence education, training and development of clinical and non-clinical workforce to provide progressive development opportunities in relation to competence and skills attainment across the Neonatal Service. This will ensure that the workforce has the clinical and professional skills to deliver high quality of care. The post holder will lead and work closely with all levels of clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure the delivery of clinical education and attainment of competences are fit for purpose and aligned to workforce plans.
The post holder will plan, deliver and evaluate effective teaching strategies throughout the Neonatal Service promoting and facilitating a culture of learning.
The Post Holder will oversee Infant Feeding and the Baby Friendly Initiative.
Main duties of the job
To lead and influence education, training and development of clinical and non-clinical workforce to provide progressive development opportunities in relation to competence and skills attainment across the Neonatal Service.
Ensure a skilled clinical workforce exists equipped with the necessary professional and clinical skills for the delivery of high quality patient care, aligned to service need and workforce plans.
To provide assessments of individual learning and development needs in conjunction with the National Skills Framework. To undertake an active teaching and assessing role in the education and training of clinical and non-clinical staff/students to support the education strategy. To identify any 'skills gaps' and provide training sessions to meet the needs of individual staff. To organise and lead unit-based induction programmes for newly appointed members of the nursing staff.
Utilise effective methods of assessment, evaluation and impact of competence in clinical education.
Contribute to the development of a skilled professional workforce and facilitate a range of education, training and learning opportunities in the clinical environments.
To support the clinical education facilitators in the delivery of the education strategy within the clinical area.
To act as a resource for information about training courses and educational opportunities.
To manage all study leave within the Study Leave Policy and E‑roster policy.

Qualifications
* Qualified in Specialty Course
* NMC Registration Part 1 Adult or Child
* Mentorship/ Teaching Qualification
* Honors Level Degree or equivalent
* NLS instructor
* BLS Train the Trainer course
Knowledge & Nature of Experience
* Current Leadership Experience in a Neonatal Setting
* Experience of delivering Education to staffExperience of Audit and Leading Change
* Evidence of Developing Quality Improvement projects
Analytical and Judgement Skills
* Able to interpret complex behavioral cues and prescribe and monitoring developmentally appropriate interventions
* Able to analyse and interpret complex family situations and provide a range of interventions and parental education programmes

* Extensive Experience of Neonatal Care
