Nouvo is extremely excited to be working with this leading finance organisation, which has experienced mergers and growth in the last 18 months. Due to business expansion, they are seeking to recruit a Senior Underwriter to ensure that applications are processed and approved within company and FCA guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage a pipeline of bridging cases and prioritise accordingly.
2. Underwrite bridging loan applications within company lending criteria by making quality lending decisions.
3. Be vigilant when working on cases and refer where necessary to the appropriate person.
4. Maintain high levels of communication with brokers, applicants, surveyors, and solicitors.
5. Collaborate with other departments including sales, compliance, finance, and collections.
6. Oversee loans post-completion and follow up on offer conditions before handing the loan to collections.
7. Stay updated on best practices and regulatory requirements.
8. Represent the company at events as required.
9. Attend broker training sessions.
10. Train and mentor junior staff members.
Key Competencies:
* Experience in underwriting bridging finance loans, including FCA regulated loans and development finance.
* Strong understanding of compliance, regulatory environment, and Consumer Duty principles.
* Pragmatic approach to underwriting.
* Commercial awareness.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
* Ability to work within tight deadlines.
* Team player.
