We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities for advanced aircraft assembly, including primary/secondary structural installation, EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnection System) routing, and Line Replaceable/Interface Units (LRUs/LIUs) integration. This role is part of an exciting next-generation avionics development program, contributing to the industrialization, producibility, and build readiness of emerging aircraft technologies.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and support manufacturing engineering activities for NPI across mechanical and electrical/avionics assembly.
* Develop, validate, and release manufacturing plans, work instructions, tooling requirements, and process documentation for aircraft structures and EWIS installations.
* Support integration of LIUs, LRUs, sensors, harnesses, and avionics units into airframe assemblies.
* Conduct build simulations, design-for-manufacture (DFM) reviews, and producibility assessments with design engineering.
* Support industrialization, assembly optimization, and continuous improvement throughout prototype and early production phases.
* Provide shop-floor engineering support, including issue resolution (NCRs, concessions, troubleshooting).
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, quality, supply chain, and test engineering.
* Participate in configuration control, change management, and product readiness gate reviews.
* Ensure compliance with aircraft standards, EASA/FAA regulations, and aerospace manufacturing best practices.
Essential Experience & Skills
* Proven background in aircraft manufacturing, covering both mechanical assembly (structures, brackets, supports, systems installation) and electrical/avionics installation (EWIS routing, terminations, equipment integration).
* Direct experience with avionics systems or aviation electrical systems—mandatory.
* Strong knowledge of EWIS standards, aircraft harnessing, connectors, backshells, grounding, shielding, and related processes.
* Experience with NPI/NPD, prototype build, or early-stage product introduction.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, 3D models, and installation schematics.
* Strong understanding of manufacturing process development, tooling, and assembly flow.
* Excellent problem-solving ability and experience working with MRB or non-conformance resolution.
Desirable Qualifications
* Experience in next-gen avionics, modular avionics architectures, or electric/hybrid aircraft systems.
* Proficiency with common aerospace engineering tools (e.g., CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, SAP/MRP systems, PLM tools).
* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA, and process optimization methodologies.
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
What's on Offer
* QDOS Assessed OUTSIDE IR35
* High hourly rate pay rate
* 6-Month initial contract duration in view of extensions
* Opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge aviation program shaping the next generation of aircraft technology.
