Job Description
Operational Improvement Consultant
Inside IR35 | Hybrid/Canterbury
£750-£850 per day
SR2 is supporting a major healthcare operational improvement programme, and we are looking for experienced Operational Improvement Consultants to support delivery across acute healthcare environments.
This is a hands-on role for consultants with experience in healthcare transformation, financial recovery, productivity improvement or cost improvement delivery. The focus is on helping hospitals identify, model and deliver efficiency opportunities that translate into measurable in-year financial benefit, not just theoretical recommendations.
This is not a generic Project Manager or Business Analyst opportunity. The strongest candidates will be practical, delivery-focused consultants who understand the “route to cash”: moving from data-led opportunity identification, through stakeholder validation and delivery planning, into implemented changes that show up in productivity, cost reduction, income improvement or financial recovery.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and scope operational improvement, productivity and cost-saving opportunities across acute hospital services
* Analyse workforce, demand, capacity, utilisation, spend, performance and financial data
* Build opportunity models, benefits cases, delivery plans and financial tracking mechanisms
* Support the route from opportunity identification to validated benefit, delivery action and measurable cash impact
* Engage clinical, operational and finance stakeholders to test, validate and implement improvement opportunities
* Support delivery across workforce, theatres, outpatients, diagnostics, patient flow, route-to-cash and non-pay spend workstreams
* Translate data and operational insight into clear, practical recommendations and delivery actions
* Track progress against efficiency, productivity, CIP and financial recovery targets
Required Experience
* Strong experience in NHS operational improvement, healthcare transformation or financial recovery
* Acute Trust experience is highly desirable
* Proven background supporting cost improvement, productivity, efficiency, route-to-cash or CIP programmes
* Ability to work end-to-end, from analysis and opportunity identification through to implementation and benefits delivery
* Strong spreadsheet, data analysis, opportunity modelling and benefits tracking capability
* Experience engaging operational, clinical and finance stakeholders to validate and deliver savings
* Comfortable working across multiple hospital workstreams rather than one narrow specialism
* Practical, hands-on consulting style with the ability to operate at pace in complex NHS environments
