About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to join the New England Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (NEBIRS), based on the grounds of Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital. In this rewarding role, you will provide and coordinate occupational therapy interventions, including occupational therapy driving assessments, alongside comprehensive rehabilitation case management for adults aged 16–65 years with brain injury. Working as part of a highly experienced multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, specialist brain injury rehabilitation services that support clients to maximise independence and participation in everyday life. NEBIRS delivers a community-based rehabilitation service, including access to a Transitional Living Unit, supporting clients across the northern region of the Hunter New England Local Health District.


What you’ll be doing

* Deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions, including functional and driving assessments
* Provide coordinated rehabilitation case management for clients with complex needs
* Build strong therapeutic relationships with clients, families, and carers
* Assess risk and contribute to comprehensive care planning
* Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to achieve meaningful client outcomes
* Work within community and transitional living environments to support real-world rehabilitation goals


About you

You are a motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapist with:

* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong clinical reasoning and risk assessment capabilities
* Experience or interest in brain injury rehabilitation and community-based practice
* The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
* A commitment to delivering person-centred, high-quality care
* Experience or interest in occupational therapy driving assessment will be highly regarded.

You will be well supported in this role, with:

* Ongoing clinical supervision from the Manager
* Access to subject matter expertise, escalation pathways, and shared problem-solving
* Strong peer support from the multidisciplinary team
* An individualised education and training plan tailored to your learning and professional development needs

Requirements:

* Occupational Therapist with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA.
* Occupational Therapy Driver Assessor qualifications.
* Current eligibility to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.
