We are running a small cafe - tea in the square in seaside town named Largs, North Ayrshire and looking for a talented cook to prepare authentic Indian dishes ( a training will be provided) alongside Scottish and Western staples such as pies, sandwiches, wraps, pasta, and other everyday favourites. We aim to serve delicious, high-quality meals that appeal to diverse tastes.
Job Summary :
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes, including curries, breads, snacks, and regional specialties.
* Prepare and cook Scottish and Western staples such as pies, sandwiches, wraps, pasta, soups, and salads.
* Plan menus that balance traditional Indian flavors with popular local dishes.
* Ensure high standards of taste, presentation, and food quality.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
* Manage inventory, order supplies, and minimize food waste.
* Adapt dishes for dietary preferences, allergies, or special requests.
* Collaborate with the team to innovate and introduce new dishes.
Requirements:
* Proven experience cooking both Indian cuisine and Western/Scottish staples.
* Knowledge of spices, cooking techniques, and traditional recipes.
* Comfortable preparing breads, pastries, pasta, sandwiches, and wraps.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Understanding of hygiene and food safety standards.
* Passion for delivering consistent, high-quality food
Preferred:
* Experience in a restaurant, café, or catering environment.
* Ability to handle vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.
* Interest in creating fusion dishes is a plus.
