Main Purpose of Role
As a team we manage the production, showing, recording and completion of Identification processes of various kinds, from capture to court including at remote locations and providing of advice to support service users. We organise and conduct controlled viewings of moving and still imagery for evidence of recognition with victims, witnesses, police officers and staff. We also manage the uploading and quality assuring of CCTV footage to BATS in accordance with PACE Code D.
We act as a point of contact for foreign forces with regards accessing custody image database and / or conducting image captures / viewings. We do this by using a wide range of commercial and specialist software and ensuring that all relevant legislative requirements are met, for example adherence to Data Protection Act, CPIA, GDPR, PACE, MOPI, equality legislation and all guidance offered by the Information Commissioners Office and Forensic Science Regulator
Key Skills & Experience Required
We are looking for someone with a focus on engaging effectively with people at all levels, a proven ability to work as part of a team, who is self-motivated and balances the needs of the organisation.
This person should have basic keyboard skills, the ability to learn and use IT packages effectively and the ability to use technical equipment and handle digital material, including file transfers.
It is imperative to work quickly and accurately under pressure and to gather and record information effectively within set procedures, in a logical and easily understood format, while understanding relevant legislation as it applies to the role.
The ability to clearly communicate, both verbally and in written format, and also present to courts is required, alongside the ability to display tact and diplomacy when necessary without compromising the integrity of the issue at hand.
This person must be able to demonstrate a personal commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in line with force values and be willing and able to work at any of the unit locations in addition to remote locations to assist in recovery of evidence.
Shift allowances/benefits: Weekend working and shift allowance may be applicable to the role dependent on the shifts worked.
