Echelon Engineers are recruiting on behalf of a specialist client delivering high-profile projects within the UK energy and smart systems sector. We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to support a multi-year programme focused on EV smart charging and smart electricity systems. This is a long-term contract outside IR35, offering the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the UK’s energy transition. The role will begin on an ad hoc/part-time basis before scaling up to a full working week after the first 6–8 weeks. Responsibilities * Lead delivery of technical work packages within energy and smart systems projects * Coordinate inputs from stakeholders including government, OEMs, utilities, and technical specialists * Manage project plans, RAID logs, reporting cycles, and quality assurance * Facilitate workshops, consultations, and progress reviews * Ensure deliverables are clear, evidence-based, and aligned with project requirements Skills & Experience Essential * Proven background as a Project Manager / Programme Manager within energy, infrastructure, or technology projects * Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder delivery programmes * Strong organisational skills with RAID, QA, and reporting discipline * Excellent communication and stakeholder management * Ability to produce high-quality reports for policy or regulatory audiences Desirable * Knowledge of EV infrastructure, smart grids, or flexibility markets * Experience with communication standards or grid codes * Prior work with government departments, regulators, or industry bodies * Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks or test events Personal Attributes * Highly organised and deadline-driven * Able to manage subject matter experts across different technical areas * Skilled at simplifying complex technical information for wider audiences * Collaborative and confident in remote-first delivery How to Apply If you are an experienced Project Manager with expertise in energy or smart systems, apply today.
