Responsibilities

* Accountable for the day-to-day operational management of the Nuclear Medicine, PET CT and BMD departments across sites and to ensure service standardisation within the extended day.
* To take the operational lead within the Nuclear Medicine/PET CT/DEXA department.
* To act as an innovative leader, to encourage new ways of working.
* To work effectively and collaboratively with the Departmental Manager and Directorate manager to support business planning and the strategic direction of the Nuclear Medicine/PETCT/DEXA service.
* To develop the expansion of the Nuclear Medicine/PETCT/DEXA service across the site.
* To liaise closely with lead clinicians thus contributing to the effective running of the service.
* To lead development and regulation of new protocols.
* To be responsible for writing and implementing all standard operating procedures for Nuclear Medicine/PETCT/DEXA, and to facilitate research opportunities in Nuclear Medicine/PETCT/DEXA.
* To ensure that clinical notation and record keeping is of the highest standard.
* To provide leadership, support and guidance to junior medical staff, radiographers, and students.
* To be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment within the designated area.
* To exercise stock control and be responsible for the efficient use of and ordering of consumables.
* Liaise with equipment manufacturers and accessory companies; liaise with representatives to evaluate new products and technology and its clinical applications within the guidelines provided by the trust.
* To participate in multi-disciplinary team working and attend MDT meetings as required.
* Co-ordinate Nuclear medicine/PET CT extended working rota to ensure maximum use of capacity.
* Maintain a team of Nuclear Medicine/PETCT/DEXA radiographers in conjunction with the clinical lead to a level of competency where they can operate the unit smoothly in times of absence and provide a first-class service.
* To practice within the rules of the Health Professions Council.
* To positively contribute to the delivery of the Trust objectives and to provide input to provide 7/7 working.
* To ensure effective communication with patients, carers and all health care professionals about all aspects of patient care; liaise with other hospitals and external agencies; maintain accurate documentation pertinent to the examination.
* Supervision and assistance in training of radiographers and trainee nuclear medicine radiologists.
* To ensure appropriate infection control measures are utilised where necessary, with particular attention to personal as well as the management of equipment and linen, in accordance with the departmental protocol.
* To exercise time management and prioritisation skills to make decisions in complex and unpredictable circumstances.

We are looking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated, dynamic, innovative and professional individual to join an established multidisciplinary Nuclear Medicine team. You must have a flexible approach to working and a desire to further develop and progress the Nuclear Medicine service. You will support the operational management of the service across the LUHFT site. appropriate workflows are maintained. You will provide leadership and support the education of Radiographers, Technologists and Radiographic assistants. You should hold a Post Graduate qualification in Nuclear Medicine and have extensive clinical experience. Leadership and demand management experience is essential.


Qualifications

* Master's degree or high level of experience in Nuclear Medicine and PETCT
* DCR or Degree in Radiographer/Nuclear Medicine Technology


Desirable criteria

* IT skills, word processing, Email and spreadsheets; demonstrable experience in Nuclear Medicine and PETCT
* Supervision of Radiographic staff
* Audit
* Experience of modernisation agenda, patient experience
* Management experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to prioritise; ability to meet challenging deadlines and objectives; ability to manage change
* Ability to train/mentor staff; time management skills; enthusiastic; demonstrate commitment to task
* Works on own initiative; works as a team player; approachable, diplomatic, visionary
* You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
