About Pride Community Foundation

Pride Community Foundation CIC (PCF) is a Brighton-based LGBTQ+ organisation dedicated to strengthening the infrastructure of LGBTQ+ communities through grant‑making, convening and advocacy. As part of the Brighton & Hove Pride family, we fund community‑led initiatives, deliver impactful projects, and work to ensure that resources are distributed transparently and in line with the needs of our diverse communities.

Our work is guided by inclusivity, collaboration and accountability.

Role Purpose:

As a Director, you will provide independent judgement, constructive challenge and strategic insight to help guide the Foundation’s direction, sustainability and impact. You will share collective responsibility for governance, oversight and ensuring that PCF delivers on its mission.

Key Responsibilities

* Attend and actively participate in quarterly board meetings.
* Contribute to strategic discussions, decision‑making and long‑term planning.
* Provide independent judgement on strategy, risk, financial stewardship and organisational performance.
* Support and appropriately challenge the executive in achieving PCF’s objectives.
* Act as an ambassador for PCF and uphold its values.

Skills and Experience

We are open to a range of professional and lived experience. We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in areas such as:

* Charity governance or CIC governance
* Finance, audit or risk
* Grant‑making and funding
* Community engagement and grassroots organising
* Legal, HR or organisational development
* Communications, public affairs or advocacy
* Publishing or editorial operations

You do not need previous board experience to apply. We value lived experience, community insight and a commitment to equity alongside professional expertise.

Equity, Access and Inclusion

We are committed to building a board that reflects the diversity of the LGBTQ+ communities we serve.

We strongly encourage applications from people from underrepresented or marginalised communities within the LGBTQ+ umbrella, including (but not limited to) people of colour, trans and non‑binary people, disabled people, working‑class applicants, and people from faith and migrant communities.

This is a voluntary role; however, no one should be financially disadvantaged because of their involvement with PCF. Reasonable expenses (including travel) will be reimbursed.

We are committed to removing barriers to participation. Adjustments and access support can be provided for disabled Directors or those with additional needs. Meetings can be held in accessible venues and/or online, and we are happy to discuss what support would enable you to contribute fully.

How to Apply
