About the Clinic
Our specialist dental sedation clinic in Reading provides high-quality care for patients requiring sedation to facilitate their dental treatment. We work in close collaboration with referring practitioners to ensure that all patients receive safe, effective, and compassionate care in line with current national guidelines.
Role Summary
We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Multidrug Sedationist to join our clinical team on a sessional basis. The post-holder will be responsible for the safe administration of intravenous multidrug sedation, patient assessment and monitoring, and the delivery of evidence-based practice in accordance with current standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Undertake pre-sedation assessments, including medical history, ASA classification, and BMI calculation
* Administer intravenous multidrug sedation in accordance with current clinical guidelines
* Provide continuous monitoring and management of patients throughout sedation and recovery
* Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and contemporaneous clinical records
* Liaise effectively with dental practitioners, nursing staff, and administrative colleagues to ensure coordinated patient care
* Uphold the highest standards of patient safety and clinical governance
Essential Criteria
* Registration with the GMC or GDC
* Formal training and competence in intravenous/multidrug sedation
* Demonstrable clinical experience in the provision of conscious sedation for dental or medical patients
* Current certification in Immediate Life Support (ILS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS)
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support anxious patients
* Commitment to continuing professional development and safe clinical practice
