We have vacancies for Environmental Enforcement Officers, with the relevant skills or experience, to join our enforcement team in taking action to address anti-social behaviour and enviro-crimes including but not limited to littering, breaches of public spaces protection orders, dog fouling, stray dogs, graffiti, fly tipping, fly posting and abandoned vehicles.
Responsibilities
* Undertake proactive and reactive patrols across streets and open spaces within the Borough, engaging with members of the public to provide advice, assistance and education and, where necessary, issue Fixed Penalty Notices and gather supporting evidence when environmental crimes are being committed.
* Deal with members of the public face to face in a professional and polite manner, offering support and advice, sometimes under challenging circumstances, working outside in all weathers.
* Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends/bank holidays on a rota basis to meet the operational needs of the service.
Qualifications and experience
* Previous experience of working in an enforcement role, and the ability to drive; consideration will be given to applicants with transferable skills.
* Be able to work within a team, make decisions and demonstrate effective communication to Councillors, staff, key stakeholders, and members of the public.
* Experience in working in a similar operational role with a good knowledge and understanding of relevant enforcement practices; excellent communication skills.
