Job Description

Do you enjoy coaching and developing the skills of others? Do you enjoy developing processes by working with colleagues across different teams to secure transparent and effective environmental regulation?

You will join a water quality focused regulatory team of specialists enabling strategic change within the water sector, particularly focusing on storm overflows.

Working proactively with Environment Agency teams and external organisations, the role will lead the development of audit processes for water quality investigations carried out under the Storm Overflows Assessment Framework and Environment Act. You will also be responsible for developing training courses on Urban Pollution Management (UPM), responding to technical queries, and coaching staff on sewerage and water quality investigations.

We’re a dispersed team working with a wide range of teams across the country involved in water industry regulation and water quality planning.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You’ll have the option to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract additional payment, and full training will be provided.

* A relevant degree such as civil engineering or environmental science, with evidence of continued professional development.
* Experience of sewer modelling and/or river quality impact modelling for UPM studies, including model audits.
* Knowledge of environmental planning and regulation of Water and Sewerage Companies.
* Excellent organisational skills and effective coaching abilities.
* Experience in embedding new approaches into business processes through collaborative relationships across dispersed teams.
