The Junior Buyer role reports to a Buyer/Category Manager, working together to deliver the best ranges for our customers, and collaborating with teams like Sourcing, Product Innovation, and Merchandising.
This role involves significant buying responsibilities and is a stepping stone to becoming a buyer or category manager. The goal is to deliver profitable, customer-centric ranges and support a Buyer/Category Manager daily. Key responsibilities include:
1. Developing customer-focused ranges with appropriate pricing and quality standards.
2. Managing supplier relationships with overseas factories and UK brands.
3. Overseeing critical path processes from briefing to product launch.
4. Negotiating cost prices and supplier funding to meet margin targets.
5. Planning ranges and developing products for assigned categories.
6. Participating in departmental strategy and approval meetings.
7. Analyzing sales performance to identify best and worst sellers and taking action.
8. Monitoring market trends, customer activity, and competitors.
9. Creating and delivering newness stories across platforms for current and future seasons.
10. Attending weekly and monthly trade meetings.
11. Checking website product setups and resolving issues.
12. Developing and motivating team members under guidance.
Requirements for success as a Junior Buyer
1. Relevant degree and demonstrable skills through work experience.
2. Excellent administrative, communication, and organizational skills.
3. Interest in homeware and customer-first approach.
4. Driven, motivated, and action-oriented attitude.
5. Previous experience is essential.
