Job Summary
This is a 6 month fixed term contract (maternity cover)

Responsibilities
* Offer an assessment service to patients over 65 presenting with dementia, delirium, depression and other psychiatric illnesses.
* Provide mental health consultation, liaison and advice service throughout the departments.
* Assist and support general hospital colleagues in making decisions about treatment and care in complex situations.
* Provide formal and informal education and clinical supervision to registered and unregistered staff.
* Represent mental health services within the Hospitals Trust.
* Provide a communication structure between secondary mental health services, primary care and non‑statutory services to ensure high standards of patient care.
* Promote a positive, supportive and non‑stigmatizing culture in relation to mental ill‑health and psychiatric illnesses.
* Provide psychosocial assessment of patients presenting with mental health, psychological problems and psychiatric illnesses, using risk assessment and management skills.
* Deliver a wide range of clinical skills and psychosocial interventions to patients within the trust, in line with GHC, NICE and NHS guidance.
* Provide a comprehensive mental health consultation‑liaison service to clinical teams, giving clear advice on appropriate management.
* Assist clinical teams in formulating appropriate care plans or decision‑making for patients with complex needs.
* Develop protocols and care pathways for treatment and referral of people with mental ill‑health, based on national and local guidelines/policy.
* Facilitate and formulate delivery of care.
Person Specification
Essential
* RMN or other allied healthcare professional.
* Further education at degree level or equivalent.
Desirable
* Experience working in Older Age services.
Post‑Qualification Training
* Post qualification training.
* Post qualification education.
* Past experience of carrying out audit or research projects and completing projects on own initiative.

Salary
£38,682 to £46,580 per annum pro rata.
