Education Officer - Volunteer (UK Wild Otter Trust)
Our education programme needs an overhaul and, working with our existing education officer, we are looking for someone who will help develop and deliver UKWOT’s education programme.
What difference will you make? We are a small volunteer‑run charity that has rescued over 200 otter cubs. It takes around a year and costs around £3,500 to rehabilitate one otter cub and release it back into the wild. Volunteers at UKWOT play a key role in ensuring the charity can rescue otter cubs and raise awareness about Eurasian otters.
Responsibilities
* Developing and delivering our updated education programme
* Creating education materials for our website
* Creating interactive education content
* Creating education content tailored to different key stages and ages
* Creating teacher guidance materials
* Helping with other tasks within the charity where needed
Qualifications and Experience
* A passion for animals and conservation and a good knowledge of UKWOTs work or willingness to learn.
* Experience in an education setting.
* Experience with the tasks mentioned above.
* Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills, with ability to design, create and implement content that engages audiences and drives brand awareness and growth.
* Excellent written English, oral communication and interpersonal skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent communication skills are extremely important as we are a small team that volunteers remotely.
* A collaborative team‑player, while also able to work well independently.
* This position is remote and would require you to have access to a computer and internet access.
What You’ll Be Doing
Our main education programme delivery is via our website, and our goal is to update and expand what we offer. As a charity, our goal is to educate people about otters, their habitat and conservation. We want to educate and inspire people of all ages. Both education officers will be supported by other teams at UKWOT, especially the Communications team, who can support with education content creation and website edits.
