Job Description:
Southern Water is recruiting an Instrumentation, Control and Automation Technician/Engineer to support water processing for public use. The role involves maintaining, repairing, modifying, configuring, commissioning, calibrating, and installing plant instrumentation, including PLC and SCADA equipment, alarms, and telemetry across the Southern Water region to ensure efficient operation.
This position requires occasional paid out-of-hours work and participation in an on-call schedule.
Your responsibilities include:
1. Fault finding, calibration, testing, investigation, and programming related to telemetry, PLC, SCADA systems, and measurement meters.
2. Implementing process improvements through control system modifications and diagnosing complex faults.
3. Conducting planned maintenance and calibration to Southern Water standards for reliability and accuracy.
4. Responding to instrumentation faults within Southern Water parameters, guided by the Regional Control Centre.
5. Investigating instrument and process issues at wastewater plants, identifying faults, and implementing remedial actions.
6. Maintaining accurate documentation to meet internal change control standards, ISO9001, and other systems.
7. Implementing control system modifications to enhance process control or compliance.
8. Training and coaching team members to develop their skills.
Skills and experience needed:
* HNC in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a relevant apprenticeship.
* Experience in a process-oriented industry such as water utility, petrochemical, electricity, or manufacturing.
* Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
* Experience with PLC and SCADA systems like Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Wonderware InTouch/AVEVA.
* Good documentation and regulatory compliance skills.
* Effective communication and collaboration skills.
* Enthusiasm for learning and growth.
* Valid UK driving license.
