Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor - Bank

This post is working as a Bank Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor/Senior Assistant Practitioner across occupational therapy teams in East IHC.

The post holder will work with occupational therapists in a variety of settings to deliver patient centred care. The clinical caseload is varied providing excellent job satisfaction.

The post holder will work with a large and experienced team, providing informal and formal supervision and development opportunities.


Main duties of the job

The post holder would be responsible for delivering treatment programmes with the patients that have been devised by the Occupational Therapist, as well as carrying out routine administrative duties.

The post holder will be fundamental in the patient's rehabilitation journey, facilitating them to achieve independence.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* OCN therapy assistants qualification or equivalent e.g. NVQ at level 3
* Grades A to C in GCSE or equivalent qualification in a language - Welsh or English
* Recognised qualification in mathematics
* ECDL or similar IT based qualification
* First aid certificate
* BLS
* Food hygiene certificate


Experience

* Considerable and substantial experience of working with people with a disability, illness or injury or as an OT assistant.
* Employment or voluntary experience in health, social care, or education environment.


Skills

* Able to independently perform delegated clinical procedures within competence to the required standards.
* Able to recognise level of own competence, boundaries of role, scope for personal & service development & improvement
* Fluent in oral Welsh and English and in written English.
* Ability to communicate with and relate to people with a disability, illness or injury
* Well developed interpersonal and communication skills.
* Able to handle patients and loads subject to DDA and requirements of work area
* Ability to work on own initiative with limited supervision & direction.
* Ability to work with others, to participate in teams,
* Information technology skills
* Able to accurately perform departmental requirements with numeracy


Knowledge

* Able to keep patient and department records to the required standards.
* Able to competently perform supportive functions to aid the running and organisation of the department.
* Knowledge and ability to express a well developed understanding of Occupational Therapy.
* Knowledge of Occupational Therapy practice appropriate to grade and experience.
* Knowledge of health and safety and risk assessment
* Able to instruct and train subordinate staff and student OT's.
* Knowledge of and training in manual handling


Personal Qualities

* Empathy for client group
* Personal maturity, reliability, integrity, confidence & life experience.
* Keen to develop knowledge and skills.


Other

* Able to travel between locations, in a timely manner, as required
* Successful references
* Access to transport.

£25,313 to £26,999 a yearper annum, pro rata
