What you will do:
– Act as a Designated Senior Officer for safeguarding concerns and Section 42 enquiries, ensuring timely and robust responses in line with current policies, guidance, and legislation.
– Lead and support safeguarding enquiries, chair safeguarding meetings, and authorise safeguarding plans to protect adults at risk from abuse or neglect.
– Manage a complex caseload, including cases with high levels of risk and complexity, providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues and supporting their professional development.
– Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health, police, and voluntary sector organisations, to achieve person-centred outcomes and promote integrated safeguarding practice.
– Ensure safeguarding practice is person-led and upholds the principles of empowerment, prevention, proportionality, protection, partnership, and accountability.
– Maintain high standards of practice within the team, supporting the Team Manager and Operations Manager to meet key performance indicators and service objectives.
– Represent the local authority at key meetings, panels, and safeguarding boards, ensuring follow-up on agreed actions and promoting adult safeguarding policies internally and externally.
– Use current legislation and social work theories to assess, plan, and intervene in safeguarding cases, balancing choice, control, and safety for individuals.
– Support individuals to understand their rights and participate in safeguarding decisions, ensuring their wishes and desired outcomes are central to the safeguarding process.
– Contribute to continuous professional development by developing specialist knowledge in safeguarding and related areas of practice.
– Take care for health and safety in the workplace, ensuring safe working practices for yourself and others, and promoting a culture of safety.
