About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Secondary Cover Supervisor to join our secondary school in Newcastle-under-Lyme. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising students in the absence of their regular teacher, ensuring that all students remain on task and that the learning environment is maintained.
This is an immediate start position, offering the chance to make a real difference in the daily lives of our students while supporting the broader teaching team.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and manage classrooms in the absence of the teacher
Ensure students are following lesson instructions and maintaining focus
Support students with their learning and behavioral needs
Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a positive and productive learning environment
Assist with administrative tasks related to classroom management when needed
Follow school policies and procedures regarding safeguarding and health & safety
About You:
A strong communicator with excellent classroom management skills
Ability to work effectively with students aged 11-16
Reliable, punctual, and dedicated to supporting student success
Experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential
A flexible and adaptable approach to your work
