Senior Litigation Solicitor (Locum) | Local Authority | Greater Manchester / North West England

We are supporting a local authority in the North West to appoint an experienced Senior Litigation Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (with full practicing rights) on an interim basis.

The role involves managing a mixed criminal and civil litigation caseload, supporting service areas across the council and progressing matters with minimal supervision.

The role

• Handling a busy caseload of criminal and civil litigation matters from instruction through to resolution autonomously
• Advising officers on litigation risk, strategy and procedure
• Preparing pleadings, evidence and court documentation
• Managing Debt recovery and enforcement work
• Applications for injunctions and access to property which includes housing disputes
• Advocacy and court attendance where required
• Working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders

Key details

• Start date: 25 May
• End date: 30 September
• Rate: £60 per hour
• Hours: 7.5 per day
• IR35 status: Inside IR35

Working arrangement - Predominantly remote

This role would suit an experienced local authority litigator who is immediately available and comfortable working autonomously in a fast‑paced public sector environment.
