Job Description:
MCS Group is delighted to be working with a large public sector employer in County Antrim to find an Environmental Health Officer to join their team. This role offers a 4-day working week, a competitive salary, and the opportunity for a longer contract. Location: Ballymena. Contract Length: 9 months with a likelihood of extension. Salary: £38.5k (Pro-rata).
The Role: Conduct inspections, investigations, assessments, and activities across various environmental health functions, including public health, food safety, and housing. Take enforcement actions as per legislation, serve statutory notices, and prepare for legal proceedings. Act as an expert witness, provide advice and reports for legal, planning, and public health matters. Collaborate with external agencies and stakeholders to support environmental health goals. Contribute to planning reviews, public consultations, health campaigns, reactive monitoring, and out-of-hours responses. Keep up-to-date with legislation, support training, and carry out administrative duties.
The Person: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a degree in Environmental Health, membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, at least 1 year of experience in a similar public sector role, knowledge of current legislation, stakeholder engagement skills, a full valid driver's license, and access to transport. Candidates qualified by experience will also be considered.
