Advert Text Merton Council is recruiting two Neighbourhood Wardens to join the newly launched dedicated Tasking Team within our Safer Streets Neighbourhood Warden Service. These roles will support the Untidy Land Pilot by responding to reports of waste nuisance and untidy private land. Officers will carry out site visits, gather evidence, record actions on the case management system and support enforcement work under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the Anti Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014 and other relevant laws. Postholders will also carry out the full range of Neighbourhood Warden duties when required. This includes community engagement, high visibility patrols, problem solving in the public realm, authorised enforcement and issuing Fixed Penalty Notices and other notices when trained and delegated to do so. Officers will prepare and serve Community Protection Warnings, Community Protection Notices and other formal letters that must be clear, accurate and based on the evidence available. You will be part of a uniformed team that delivers a first class, customer focussed service for residents, businesses and visitors. The team works between 07:00 and 22:00 and follows a rota that includes two weekends out of every four. The service supports the wider Community Safety Partnership and helps ensure that everyone in Merton is safe and feels safe. This is an active and varied front line role with opportunities to support ward taskings, assist with Community Payback projects and make a visible difference across the borough.
