Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Waste Operations team at Farnham STW.
As the successful candidate, you will work in a multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for scheduled, unscheduled and emergency maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdown. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference by performing front-line activities including operation, testing, routine checks, maintenance, and problem-solving to ensure services are delivered on time, cost and quality standards. This will include planned and preventive maintenance of equipment to support the operation of the plant.
What you’ll be doing
* Ensuring health, safety and well-being of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors by complying with Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water’s guidelines.
* Undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms and fault finding to identify issues, fix or escalate; planned maintenance of plant and equipment daily; installing new plant and equipment as required in line with current standards and regulations.
* Record work and asset information to improve business performance, identify risks and recommend changes in day-to-day work, raising issues for resolution as required.
* Provide specialist technical advice with up-to-date knowledge, and coach/train staff under their supervision, including the apprenticeship programme.
* Deliver excellent customer experience and contribute to overall customer satisfaction, interacting with internal and external customers in a timely, professional, efficient, respectful and polite manner.
Base Location: Farnham STW – Monkton Lane, GU9 9ND.
Working Pattern: 38 hours Monday-Friday 7:30-15:36, plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities can increase earnings.
All PPE, Tools, Fuel Card and provisional use of a company van.
What you should bring to the role
* Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical & electrical systems or with NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical & electrical engineering.
* A problem solver who can identify issues and implement solutions or escalate when required.
* Excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
* Resilient, able to adapt to pressures and a changing environment.
* Ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative to design and standards.
* Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
* Team player who can work in different teams, respectful, with constructive feedback and supporting development of others.
* Full UK driving licence.
