An exciting opportunity from a multi-faceted IT consultancy company has arisen for a PHP Software Developer to support our growing business. The right candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, good technical knowledge, be self-motivated and able to work under pressure and work with our other teams to complete jobs to a very high standard. They should also be self-motivated, good at problem solving and be able to dynamically adapt for a changing situation.
MMS offers a wide range of technology solutions including IT Support, System Installations, Connectivity, Hosted Services, custom software solutions and websites. You will be working alongside our team to deliver the best possible IT solutions to our clients, whether this be a standalone development project or as part of a wide ranging answer to a clients requirement.
Role:
The candidate would be responsible for designing and building new systems as well as working on existing ones. Youll be solving interesting and challenging problems using industry best practices to create solutions for both clients and our internal operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Building and maintaining products using PHP, MySQL, MariaDB
- Integrating with APIs
- Becoming involved with the hosting operation so that you can assist and in time develop those systems
- Being willing to learn new technologies as and when required
- Working to client specifications
- Writing reusable code, libraries and classes for future use
- Maintain existing codebases including troubleshooting, bug fixing and adding new features
- Support clients and internal staff with support requests
Skills Required:
- 3 years of experience using PHP and MySQL/MariaDB
- Understanding of HTTP, DNS and SSL
- Experience with XML and RESTful APIs
- Able to clearly document work as you go along
- Ability to understand and run with existing codebases
- Being capable of managing your own workload effectively and switching to live issues when required
- Problem solving and being able to translate end user requirements into a technical solution
- Strong customer facing skills
- Ability to work in a team and on your own using your own initiative
If you have any experience with jQuery, JSON and CMS products such as WordPress this would be beneficial.
Hours: 9am – 5pm Monday-Friday
