Offer description

We are looking to recruit Advanced Nurse Practitioners to our existing ANP team within the Orthopaedic Department who are ready for new experiences in a dynamic and challenging role. You will be expert clinical practitioners responsible for providing advanced clinical skills in our Orthopaedic unit (trauma and elective), enhancing care and improving patient flow in conjunction with national standards.

You will work across Fife Elective Orthopaedic Centre, Orthopaedic trauma wards and work alongside the Ortho-geriatric Consultant in our dedicated hip fracture ward. This role will also support the outpatient arthroplasty pathway, in particular identification of same-day arthoplasties.

Our Advanced Nurse Practitioners work effectively as senior members of the Orthopaedic Team ensuring the delivery of high quality, clinically effective care, utilising advanced clinical skills and knowledge. Working within our new National Treatment Centre provides an exciting opportunity to work autonomously with an ANP-Led unit. By adopting this creative workforce the Orthopaedic Department have made a positive impact on achieving national targets and enhancing patient experiences.

You will have experience in managing safe, effective treatment and care. This will involve working across professional and organisational boundaries in partnership with others including acute and primary care nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and senior management teams. You will provide direct patient management in partnership with senior medical staff, have sound clinical knowledge and highly developed clinical decision-making skills in acute care. You should possess the ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads, work across professional boundaries and be flexible in an extremely busty environment.

You should be a registered nurse, who, acting within your professional boundaries will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care. You will demonstrate safe clinical decision making and expert care for patients.

You will have a responsibility to teach, supervise, assess and mentor, and to plan, prioritise and delegate work to other staff members. You will work across the four Pillars of Practice, developing and maintaining professional and organisational relationships with the multidisciplinary team.

You must possess a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice and have demonstrable evidence of clinical competence.

Applications are also welcomed from candidates who have not yet completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice or attained clinical competence, on a trainee basis. Candidates would ideally have Orthopaedic experience and/or Advanced Practice modules.

Candidates without the PGDip will be supported to study and be given the according study leave. We also have a dedicated Lead for Advanced Practice who will provide support.

On successful completion of the above, candidates will transition to a fully qualified ANP role.

Trainees are paid a percentage of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate which is dependent on the duration of the training period (see Terms and Conditions).

*Annex 21 trainees are paid a percentage of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate which is dependent on the duration of the training period (see Terms and Conditions). Starting pay for any trainee will be no less than the rate of the Scottish Living Wage.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
