Role Overview
What we’re looking for:
We’re seeking a skilled practitioner with significant experience in delivering service design projects. Your role will focus on creating end-to-end, evidence-based, inclusive, accessible, and planet-friendly services. You’ll often work with multidisciplinary teams on complex projects where autonomy and project management are key.
We value individuals who champion our core values: caring passionately, being fluent in people, believing in your craft, pushing conventions, being open to change, and valuing each other. You will also play a key role in championing our user-centred design (UCD) approach, especially when working with clients new to UCD.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading and directing projects, managing multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver inclusive, accessible, and sustainable services.
* Supporting and line-managing team members, overseeing appraisals and professional development.
* Defining and refining practice methods to enhance collaborative work and inclusive, sustainable design.
* Supporting business development by identifying opportunities and assisting with proposals and pitches.
Skills and Experience
We’re interested in candidates with skills or experience in some of the following areas:
* Research: Collaborating with user researchers to understand key service factors.
* Strategy & Systems Thinking: Leading teams to map and analyze strategies, systems, and scenarios, and forming strategic recommendations.
* User-Centred Journeys & Experiences: Leading projects that deliver optimal outcomes for users, feasible implementation, and alignment with client strategies.
* Facilitation: Leading workshops and inspiring presentations to clients and stakeholders.
* Visual & Written Communication: Creating compelling visuals and clear, concise documentation.
* Recommendation & Implementation: Working with stakeholders to identify feasible changes, outlining timelines and resources.
* Prototyping: Leading cross-disciplinary efforts to design, build, and test prototypes (online and offline).
* Stakeholder Management: Negotiating and guiding stakeholders toward positive, budget-conscious outcomes.
* Managing Complexity & Ambiguity: Supporting teams through complex, uncertain projects.
* Proactive & Autonomous Leadership: Initiating conversations and adding value independently.
How We Work
We collaborate with central and local government, NHS, charities, and private organizations. Sometimes embedded in client teams, moving across sectors every 3-12 months to diversify experience. Our weekly team meet-ups foster shared learning, and we work closely with user research and digital teams. Senior team members support your wellbeing, goal-setting, and feedback.
Qualifications
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. The minimum requirement is a degree or professional experience relevant to service design.
Additional Benefits
* Private Medical Cover (option to include family members)
* 25 days paid holiday, with buy/sell options
* 4x basic salary life assurance (additional cost for increases)
