Role: Workshop Manager
Location: Caldicot
Salary: £44,000 - £48,000
We are looking to appoint an experienced Workshop Manager with a welding and fabrication background to take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of our workshop. This role is key to ensuring efficient production, quality compliance, and effective staff management.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
* Full day-to-day management of the workshop
* Programming and managing the work schedule to meet production demands
* Ordering materials and managing stock levels
* Daily coordination with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services
* Liaising closely with the Managing Director on:
o Future workload planning
o Resolving fabrication and technical queries
* Managing the Quality Assurance (QA) system
* Ensuring day-to-day compliance with QA requirements
* Preparation for audits and supporting audit activities
* Agreeing QA system modifications with the Managing Director as required
* Management, supervision, and development of workshop staff
* Organising recruitment of new workshop personnel in conjunction with the Managing Director
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience in a Workshop Manager or senior supervisory role
* Strong welding and fabrication background (time-served preferred)
* Experience managing production schedules and materials
* Sound knowledge of QA systems and audit preparation
* Ability to resolve fabrication and technical issues effectively
* Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills
* Proactive and solutions-focused approach
