We are excited to be working with a new specialist SEND secondary school from September 2025 close to Redhill in Surrey. The school will support young people aged 11–16 with socialmunication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing needs, often associated with Autism. Their vision is simple: to give every student “every opportunity to achieve.” With small class sizes, high levels of classroom support, and a dedicated multidisciplinary intervention team, they provide a personalised curriculum that inspires, engages, and empowers each learner.
Your new role
We are seeking enthusiastic andpassionate Teaching Assistants to join our founding team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the school’s journey from the very beginning. You will primarily be based at the Chaldon site, with occasional work at a satellite site in Caterham. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and personal development. You’ll help create a safe, nurturing environment where every child can thrive, while also assisting with care needs and positive behaviour management when required.
Your responsibilities in the role will include:
1. Safeguarding & Wellbeing: Ensure the safety and welfare of pupils in line with school policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
2. Behaviour Support: Encourage positive behaviour, concentration, and emotional regulation, adapting responses to meet individual needs.
3. Building Relationships: Establish trust and positive connections with pupils to help them feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
4. Promoting Independence: Support personal growth and independence while maintaining high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
5. Learning Support: Assist teachers by preparing resources, reinforcing learning concepts, and adapting activities to suit pupils’ needs.
6. Curriculum Delivery: Help deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, ensuring pupils reach their full potential across all areas of learning.
What you'll need to succeed
7. A GCSE Maths and English qualification at a minimum grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
8. L2 award for supporting teaching and learning in schools or equivalent or willingness to work towards
9. Previous experience of working within relevant SEND Provisions
10. Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
11. Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
12. Experience working within education is advantageous.
13. Experience of working within a multicultural, inclusive setting
