Clinical Unit Manager

East London

Permanent, Full time (37.5 hours)

Mon-Fri with occasional Saturday work

This is an exciting opportunity to lead nursing and clinical services in a purpose-built Specialist Diagnostics & Dental Centre. Featuring state-of-the-art facilities including MRI, CT, X-ray, and mammography, the centre will deliver a wide range of outpatient and diagnostic services across multiple specialities.

As Clinical Unit Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in establishing and embedding clinical services, creating pathways and processes that deliver outstanding patient care and experience. You’ll be a visible leader, driving clinical excellence, governance, and innovation while supporting the seamless transition of patients across care pathways within Bupa’s London network.

How you’ll help us make health happen

1. Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of care pathways and clinical service delivery models.
2. Ensure safe staffing levels and skill mix, maintaining competence across nursing teams.
3. Drive quality assurance programmes and manage clinical audits to improve patient care.
4. Provide strong, visible leadership and act as a role model for inclusive culture and clinical excellence.
5. Oversee operational delivery, resource utilisation, and financial management within budgetary expectations.
6. Manage complaints, incidents, and embed learning to continuously improve care standards.
7. Support recruitment, retention, and development of a highly engaged nursing team.
8. Collaborate with consultants and multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient pathways and experience.
9. Deputise for the Centre General Manager as required.

Key Skills / Qualifications

Essential:

10. Registered Nurse (Adult) with live NMC registration.
11. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional education.
12. Teaching/assessing qualification.
13. Management qualification or working towards one.
14. Significant experience in a senior nursing role within Outpatient/Diagnostic settings.
15. Experience leading new service implementation and managing clinical audits.
16. Strong knowledge of NMC Codes, governance, and resource management.
17. Excellent leadership, communication, and financial awareness.

Desirable:

18. Diploma in Management Studies or equivalent.
19. Safe sedation training.
20. Experience in radiology nursing, theatres/anaesthetics, or research and development.
