Salary/Rate: £19.80 gross per hour
Support Worker, B74, Fantastic weekend opportunity for experienced support workers. Support an 18-year-old with Cerebral Palsy. Up to £19.80 gross per hour.
Wage/Salary: £17.80 gross per hour on weekdays, and £19.80 gross per hour on weekends.
On-call Night rate: £13.50 gross per hour.
Driver required? Yes, essential, with own car to access the client’s home and to drive Jack to activities.
Use of car? On duty (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle).
Accommodation: Own bedroom and bathroom provided while on duty.
Essential: Candidates must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and proven experience managing behaviours that may challenge, using strategies such as distraction, redirection, and de-escalation. Confident to take Jack swimming.
Desirable: Experience supporting individuals with Cerebral Palsy or a physical disability, working in a family home.
Start Date: ASAP, but Jack and his family will wait for the right candidate.
Days & Hours: A minimum average of 20.77 hours per week, working 3 out of 4 weekends each month. Shifts typically run from Friday or Saturday afternoon through to Sunday evening or Monday morning.
Rotas are agreed three months in advance. Additional hours are available during school holidays and to cover sickness and annual leave.
Overview of Role
This is a hands‑on role supporting Jack in all aspects of daily life, including personal care, mobility, transfers, and gym work, while encouraging participation in activities and new experiences. A key aspect of the role is confidently managing behaviours that may challenge, using established strategies such as distraction, redirection, and positive reinforcement. The ability to remain calm, think on your feet, and use humour to diffuse situations and maintain engagement is essential. You will support Jack in social and recreational activities and build a strong, consistent relationship. During night shifts, Jack generally sleeps well and may occasionally need minimal support.
