82039 - Infrastructure Support (Smart Meter)
This Infrastructure Support – Smart Meter position will report to the Smart Meter Manager and will work within the Strategy, Regulation and Support Services directorate based in either our Ipswich, Crawley or London office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £50,000.00 and a bonus of 7.5%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote.

Job purpose:
As an Infrastructure Support, specialising in the Smart Meter area, you will be working closely with teams from across IS (including Architecture), Control Systems & Automation and external vendors to manage and support the Smart Meter Infrastructure ensuring that it is operating correctly and delivering the designed capabilities.
Dimensions:
10. People – work within a team of circa 3-5 members of the Smart Meter Team, but no direct line management responsibilities
11. Financial – no direct budget responsibility
12. Communication – communicate and work with all teams and partners internal or external to UK Power Networks. Good verbal, written and presentational skills required to express risks and potential possible effects to the business based on infrastructure requirements
13. Stakeholders – regular and ongoing interaction with senior management across IT, IS and the business.
Principal accountabilities:
The Infrastructure Support for Smart Meter Systems will take primary responsibility for running processes that are critical to the health and maintenance of the Smart Meter Systems within UK Power Networks, specifically:
14. Delivery of changes, upgrades and ongoing maintenance to ensure good health and operation of all parts of the Smart Meter System including:
15. Azure Application Services
16. Gamma Router
17. DCC physical and virtual Gateway connections
18. Database storage volumes
19. SQL Database storage
20. Azure Databricks storage
21. HSM (including code changes/upgrades)
22. Siemens EnergyIP
23. Data cleansing operations
24. Database backup and retention policy implementation
25. Oracle databases
Nature and scope:
You will require management of the Smart Meter System as its availability and suitability are important to the realisation of benefits to UK Power Networks from utilising Smart Meter Communications and Data.
You will have knowledge of Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS) and their integrations to middleware software and endpoints.
The role holder will have knowledge of the Smart Energy Code (SEC) and its possible effects to configuring Smart Meter and MDMS solutions.
You will have knowledge of the Data Communications Company (DCC) and its infrastructure that facilitates the Smart Meter Network, this will include knowledge of DCC adaptors, gamma routers and secure gateway connections.
Qualifications:
26. Experience with large data migration and complex infrastructure projects
27. Certification in Azure development
28. Experience with MDMS solutions
29. Knowledge of the Smart Energy Code and its impact on Network Operators

Should you not have the full range of essential skills, qualifications and competencies listed above, there may be an opportunity for further training to equip you. If you do not possess all relevant competencies for the core grade, it will be appropriate to appoint at a lower grade until they have developed the required competencies.
