Managing Director – Engineering & Manufacturing A successful UK manufacturer of components for electrical and control systems is seeking a new Managing Director to drive the next stage of growth. With a turnover of approximately £10m, a dedicated and skilled workforce, and ambitions to expand into new markets, including aerospace, defence, and broader engineering sectors, this is a unique opportunity for a hands-on commercially astute leader to make a real impact. The Opportunity: We’re looking for a Managing Director who enjoys being visible on the shop floor as well as shaping commercial strategy in the boardroom. You’ll bring a collaborative, practical approach and have the credibility to unite and inspire a talented team. Key Responsibilities for Managing Director: * Provide hands-on, accessible leadership across all business areas, supporting and motivating a fantastic team. * Drive commercial performance and deliver sustainable business growth. * Maintain and strengthen a positive, inclusive workplace culture. * Shape and deliver strategies for growth in core and emerging sectors, such as aerospace, defence, and wider engineering markets. * Support ongoing ISO accreditation and ensure industry standards are met. * Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and other key stakeholders. The suitable candidate for this Managing Director will need to possess the following skills and experience: * Have senior leadership experience in manufacturing or engineering, whether electrical, industrial, aerospace, defence, or general engineering * Have a proven track record of commercial achievement as Managing Director, Operations Director, Sales Director, or in a similar senior position. * Possess a practical, hands-on approach with strong shop floor understanding. * Are familiar with quality management and ISO accreditation processes. * Foster a collaborative and supportive workplace culture. * Technical qualification in engineering or business management is desirable but not essential.
