Job Description:
Purpose of job
To advise higher and further education institutions, training providers, independent schools, academies, and local authorities on a broad range of corporate law, charity law, governance, regulatory, and funding issues.
The role involves advising universities and education institutions on commercial and large corporate projects, including:
* Transactions involving private education institutions, share sales, and asset sales.
* Legal due diligence, drafting transaction documents, and ancillary agreements.
* Pre- and post-sale reorganizations of private education groups with complex structures.
* Partnerships and collaborations, including franchise, study abroad, and dual award agreements.
* Setting up subsidiary companies and advising on intragroup arrangements.
* Governance advice, constitutional reviews, and obtaining necessary approvals.
* Mergers of education institutions.
* Coordinating banking, finance, real estate, and statutory dissolution processes.
* Procurement disputes and registration applications with regulatory bodies.
The candidate
The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of the law, be commercially and analytically minded, and able to provide practical advice. They should be able to work under pressure, communicate clearly, and contribute to marketing and practice development. The role offers strong career progression, potentially to Partner, and is based in a friendly, reputable firm.
Qualifications/Experience
* Qualified Solicitor with at least 8 years PQE
* Strong academic background
* Experience in the education sector
* Interest in business development
