Children attending a pupil referral unit present with social, emotional & mental health difficulties in students aged between Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4. The role involves providing stability, education, and empowerment, considering each learner's individualised, differentiated learning styles to ensure social, emotional, and educational integration.
The initial assignment will assess how well you fit into the setting, requiring you to be fully committed and enthusiastic about making a difference in children's lives. Willingness to use your own initiative to stand out is essential. If your potential is recognized, the setting may offer you a permanent position with a clear career progression plan.

Job Description:
* Operate within professional ethical and school policies when working with pupils and staff.
* Encourage and support staff positively and use restraint training methods when managing escalating behaviours.
* Support pupils during crises and help them deal with consequences.
* Assist in the child's integration into the class/group.
* Maintain good relationships with staff.
* Empower pupils and encourage positive regulation of social and emotional skills.
* Support the child's focus in class and help them complete set work.
* Develop positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
* Listen and offer appropriate support as needed.
* Provide behavioural records and report as required.
Job Specification:
* At least 6 months solid experience working in a pupil referral unit, alternative provision, or similar setting.
* Level one or above Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
* Proactive approach.
* Flexible with temporary work patterns.
* Team Teach training desirable but training provided.
* Competitive daily rate: £98-108.
* Enhanced DBS subscribed to update service or willing to apply.
